Our Mission
Getting Resources to the People and their communities in collaborations.
Helping Others Make Everything Right (H.O.M.E.R.) is committed to providing resources to individuals and their communities through strategic collaborations and support networks. Our mission is to empower low-income housing residents to achieve self-sufficiency and success by fostering knowledge, advocacy, and access to essential resources.
We achieve this mission through three key approaches: educating residents about their rights and responsibilities, building strong community networks that amplify collective voices, and connecting families with vital resources that promote stability and growth. Our dedicated team works alongside community members, understanding that sustainable change comes from within communities themselves.
Looking ahead, we envision a future where every resident in low-income housing communities has the tools, knowledge, and support needed to thrive. We believe in the power of informed, organized communities to create positive change, and we're dedicated to being a catalyst in this transformation. Through persistence, compassion, and collaboration, we're working to make this vision a reality, one community at a time.
Empowering Communities

Resource Distribution
We're committed to getting vital resources directly to people and their communities. Through our network of local partners, we provide housing assistance, financial education, and essential supplies to families in need. Our innovative distribution system ensures that 90% of resources reach recipients directly, maximizing impact where it matters most.

Collaborative Approach
We believe in the power of working together to create lasting change. By partnering with local organizations, government agencies, and community leaders, we build sustainable solutions that address root causes. Our collaborative framework brings together diverse stakeholders, from housing experts to neighborhood advocates, creating a united front for community development.

Community-Driven
Our initiatives are shaped by the needs and voices of those we serve. Through regular community forums, surveys, and direct engagement, we ensure that local residents guide our priorities and programs. This bottom-up approach empowers communities to take ownership of their development and create solutions that truly work for their unique circumstances.
Meet Our Founders
Carolyn Homer
A former community service aide, Carolyn's passion for helping others in public housing communities led to the creation of H.O.M.E.R.
Rachel Johnson
Rachel, Carolyn's daughter, turned the vision into reality by officially establishing H.O.M.E.R. as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2013.
Carolyn Homer and Rachel Johnson, (Mother & Daughter Founders)
Carolyn Homer came up with the name Helping Others Make Everything Right using her last name after realizing the work she was doing in Public Housing and Project Based Section 8 apartment communities to help others make a difference in their lives.  Carolyn felt it was important to stay put in your communities to make a difference.  Her work as a community service aide for the ft. Lauderdale police department included many areas but mainly was Preventing crime in the Black Communities.  She always wanted to create a nonprofit and her daughter, Rachel Johnson made this happen as a torch passing moment officially in 2013.  Rachel, a Independent Organizer & Advocate started by catering to the same communities her Mother, Carolyn were in.  Many community activities and programs were developed by Carolyn that Rachel would begin incorporating in the low income housing community rooms within a few cities in Florida and eventually virtually.  HOMER would blossom into the 501C3 nonprofit organization it is today serving mainly People living in low income housing around the country virtual and in person by her startup of a Facebook Group called Faces of HUD Housing (Unity Project) and then partnering with another Facebook Group Owner, Regina Kelin to help low income housing Tenants facing loss of their section 8 voucher and housing by helping them to learn how to advocate for themselves and others using the HUD Housing resources.  Therefore, Faces of HUD Housing was born to continue to Help Us Help Renters demonstrate that their low income housing status did not dictate whether they had the knowledge, ability and will to be shown the way to get access to resources to help them sustain affordable housing while on their journey to self sufficiency and success. Also, many goals to expand our services are on the way.  Please stay tuned!  JOIN HOMER's FACES OF HUD HOUSING on Facebook .
